Couples Therapy

All couples experience conflict and may even feel disconnected, unfulfilled, insecure, and with a lack of direction. No matter how painful your situation may appear, Couples Therapy can help bring more FRIENDSHIP, MEANING, UNDERSTANDING and FULFILLMENT to your life together, thereby strengthening your relationship and your family life.

My passion lies in working with couples that have a history of childhood trauma, and helping these couples develop insight and skills to stop repeating similar themes and patterns in their adult family life and/or romantic relationships. Some issues may include co-parenting issues, sexual issues, infidelity, codependency, and unhealthy communication patterns that destroy the fabric of their marriage or romantic relationship.

My practice also offers more intensive services to those couples experiencing a crisis or requiring immediate couples or family intervention. I have an extensive understanding of how childhood trauma, abuse and domestic violence impacts the lives of individuals, couples, and families resulting in generational family trauma, PTSD, personality disorders, codependency, substance abuse, depression and anxiety.

My style is one of collaboration with an emphasis on safety, respect, open communication, and hope for healing and human potential. I have been trained in Gottman Levels I, II, and III and I am currently in the process of becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist. When providing couples therapy, I employ Gottman techniques and interventions to get your needs met as a couple. I have received addition training provided by the Gottman institute and I am a Bringing Baby Home Educator and a Gottman 7 Principles Leader.

Couples therapy can be provided in person and via telehealth.

Marathon Couples Therapy

Marathon Couples Therapy is a dynamic alternative to traditional weekly sessions that incorporates Gottman Method Couples Therapy. It’s a condensed and focused approach to couples therapy that will provide you with the time needed to address specific issues and get your relationship back on track. In this powerful therapy format, you’ll meet for either one day or three consecutive days, depending on your needs.

Couples that participate in Couples Therapy receive a scientific evaluation of their relationship from named the Gottman Relationship Checkup. This tool will be used to identify areas that required improvement based off the response the couple provides individually.

Qualified Supervision for RMHCI’s

As your qualified supervisor for licensure, to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I am committed to helping you flourish and grow into not just a knowledgeable therapist, with a toolbox filled with the most up to date interventions, but I also assure you that you will have the emotional intelligence needed to be able to manage even the most challenging clients. I am very passionate about and have extensive experience working with clients that present with personality disorders, chronic childhood abuse, domestic violence, codependency and emotional dysregulation; all of which goes hand in hand with a diagnosis of PTSD, depression and anxiety.

I conceptualize cases using a trauma informed approach; meaning that I look at every case through the trauma lens. The trauma informed approach is based on the following 6 guiding principles identified by SAMHSA:

1. Safety
2. Trustworthiness & Transparency
3. Peer Support
4. Collaboration & Mutuality
5. Empowerment, Voice & Choice
6. Cultural, Historical & Gender issues

I also believe that trauma resolution and processing is not the end of therapy. It is merely the beginning of getting the client to a stable place and their baseline so that then, we can begin the work required for self-actualization and well-being by helping the client build strengths and thrive.

I also have a passion for working with couples and have received Level 1, 2, and 3 training of Gottman Therapy.
